A career in paramedicine is a dynamic and exciting career with opportunities to work in a range of different roles as a registered paramedic. As a paramedic, you’ll be a first-contact health professional who works within the wider urgent and emergency care setting. You’ll provide high quality and compassionate care, responding to the needs of service users and carers. You’ll work in a wide variety of settings, which may include a front-line ambulance, a GP surgery, a minor injury/illness centre, in remote medicine or a varied range of other environments. You’ll learn to be an autonomous practitioner who has the knowledge, skills and clinical expertise to assess, treat, diagnose, supply and administer medicines to, manage, discharge and refer patients in a range of urgent, emergency, critical and out-of-hospital settings. On successful completion of this apprenticeship, you’ll be eligible to apply to the Health and Care Professions Council for registration as a paramedic. You’ll also complete a degree programme.

Duration: 36 months

Relevant school subjects: Science

Entry requirements: Disclosure and Barring Service check, meet the 15 standards in the Care Certificate, and subject to Occupational Health Screening

Achievement upon completion: Level 6 (Degree)—equivalent to a bachelor’s degree

Potential salary upon completion: £30,000 per annum
