A fence installer is responsible for the installation of different types of fences, gates and barriers, across many different environments, from domestic and agricultural, through to commercial, industrial, high security and infrastructure, such as motorways, railways and utilities. As a result, fencing offers a wide range of career opportunities. In this role, you’ll work to detailed specifications and standards to ensure correct and safe installation. You’ll develop the ability to read and understand specifications and plans, prepare sites and select relevant materials to carry out installation, maintenance or repairs to meet the relevant contract requirements. The work will include using a wide variety of materials, tools and machinery.

Duration: 18 months

Relevant school subjects: DT

Entry requirements: GCSEs or equivalent

Achievement upon completion: Level 2 (Intermediate)—equivalent to GCSEs

Potential salary upon completion: £22,000 per annum
