As an apprentice warehouse operative, you’ll take deliveries, check for damaged/missing items, store goods, move stock by various methods, pick and pack orders, load goods for dispatch, maintain stock records and documentation, and clean. You’ll safely use a range of equipment, machinery and vehicles, depending on your role and the setting. This could include mechanical racking systems, materials handling equipment and forklift trucks. As a warehouse operative, you’ll communicate with a range of people and customers. You’ll have a passion for meeting customers’ expectations by providing a quality service that encourages repeat business. You’ll learn to use industry-recognised systems and associated services, and will be able to work under pressure to tight deadlines.

Duration: 12 months

Relevant school subjects: English, maths and ICT

Entry requirements: Depend on employer, but likely GCSEs or equivalent

Achievement upon completion: Level 2 (Intermediate)—equivalent to GCSEs

Potential salary upon completion: £18,000 per annum
