Trade business services

“Trade business involves servicing and building relationships with local tradespeople to support them in the design, ordering, purchasing and delivery of materials for trades jobs”

Trade business is also known as business-to-business selling, normally in bulk. Trade businesses do not sell to the public and are normally membership organisations. They tend to trade out of depots or warehouses and a significant proportion of trade will be conducted over the telephone and the internet. On your apprenticeship, you’ll be part of a team, working with staff members that are responsible for a variety of activities including stock control, sales generation, account management and design services. As an apprentice, you may work as a trade business depot operative. Your role will be to service and build relationships with local tradespeople to support them in the design, ordering, purchasing and delivery of materials for trades jobs. You may have responsibility for a variety of functions, including opening and maintaining trade accounts, and local marketing and sales activity.
