Textile care operative

“A textile care operative provides laundry services and often product rental, to a wide range of sectors in the UK”

The textile care industry encompasses commercial laundry and dry and wet cleaning, which together serve a range of sectors, from work-wear for manufacturing to linen for hospitality, and the high street. As an apprentice operative at either a commercial laundry or dry/wet cleaning employer, you’ll train in the use of specialist equipment, machinery and chemicals to undertake the cleaning process, as well as sort and identify products, rectify basic faults, ensure quality, and packaging and dispatching. Textile care services operatives operate in an increasingly high technology-based environment. Your working patterns may include shift work, as much of the sector operates 365 days per year. You’ll report to a team leader or line manager. You may also interact with engineers, customer service executives, account managers, drivers and customers.
