Shipley College

We are a small, friendly place that will give you the individual attention you deserve. Based in the UNESCO World Heritage site of Saltaire, Shipley College is a great place to study and only 15–20 minutes from Bradford or Leeds by bus or train.

College is very different to school so get a fresh start with a great range of full-time courses and Apprenticeships. You can choose from:
Art & design, Business, Children’s care, Learning & development, Fitness & coaching, Games development, Health & social care, Horticulture, IT, Media, Music, Retail, Supported learning, Sport, Travel & tourism.

Why study with Shipley College?
•    Students enjoy coming to the college. Our student satisfaction results continue to be extremely high.
•    You benefit from tutors who started out in industry. Their practical work experience means you get an insider’s look at your subject area.
•    We have an excellent reputation for the support and training we offer, both with students and employers.
•    For over 28 years we have developed an impressive track record for our Apprenticeships, with success rates above the regional and         national averages.

It’s not all about studying
Your life at college isn’t only about course work; it’s also about what you do outside of the classroom. Get involved with our enrichment activities, fundraising, get fit, join the student council and go out for a class trip. Last year our Sport and Travel & tourism students went to the Costa del Sol!

Clubs and activities
Try out lots of different activities including: badminton, table tennis, football, dance, boxercise, circuit/fitness training and LAN & console gaming, which you can access mainly free of charge. The activities on offer change regularly depending on demand and new suggestions are always welcome.

Sport facilities
If you want to get fit or keep in shape, we have the facilities you need including a gym, fitness room and outdoor sports pitch.

Social spaces
Places where you can meet up with friends for a chat, chill out and relax are in the Exhibition, Salt and Mill buildings. Exhibition and the Salt building both have Costa coffee outlets serving hot drinks and great food.

Fundraising
Staff and students get very involved in fundraising, both for class trips and campaigns like Red Nose Day. Last year we raised more than £450 for Comic Relief! This was a cross-college effort with different classes organising fun and wacky activities like a pie-throwing competition, sponsored hair dyeing and leg waxing, and video games tournaments. Our ‘Shipley’s Got Talent’ competition also proved popular. Singers and musicians performed rap, rock and soul to a very appreciative crowd. Combined with a display of martial arts this made for a great talent show!
