Effective recruitment ensures that organisations have the right people, in the right place, at the right time, and is crucial to the performance of every company in the UK.

Recruitment is one of the fastest growing industries in the UK, with over 90,000 people currently employed. Each year it is responsible for placing up to 1.5 million individuals in jobs, emphasising its importance to the success of the overall economy.

The role of a recruiter is very sales-orientated, but also involves elements of human resources. Anyone involved in recruitment activities needs to have the appropriate knowledge and skills to do the job properly; as a Recruitment apprentice, you will be expected to have a ‘can do’ attitude, as well as good numeracy, literacy and communication skills which your apprenticeship will build on.

As an Intermediate Level apprentice, you may find yourself involved in identifying client recruitment requirements, pre-selecting and assessing candidates, matching and presenting candidates to employers, briefing and supporting candidates, as well as administering the recruitment process.

Advanced Level apprentices may be involved in headhunting and identifying suitable candidates, shortlisting candidates, increasing candidate base and generating leads and market information.

At Higher Level your responsibilities could include advising clients on strategic recruitment planning, identifying their recruitment requirements, planning the recruitment process, pre-selecting and assessing candidates, building relationships with clients, and attracting, coaching and supporting candidates.

Salaries vary across sectors and locations. However, average salaries are around £26,000, with senior consultants earning an average of £32,000. Those with lengthy experience can earn £40,000+. Bonuses and commission are also commonplace
