Kirsty’s on the walk to success

An 18-year-old from Wigan made such a good impact on her employer that they created a new apprenticeship for her

Kirsty Browit’s ambitions of working with children are being realised thanks to support from national youth training provider Rathbone Training and Parsons Walk Nursery.

Rathbone Training helped Kirsty to gain a childcare assistant traineeship with Parsons Walk and she soon developed a great relationship with her colleagues as well as the parents and children.

“I was very nervous at first but eager to start; I settled in quickly and really enjoyed it,” said Kirsty.

After completing her traineeship, Kirsty found an apprenticeship with another nursery with Rathbone Training’s support, but such was the impact she’d made in her time at Parsons Walk, the nursery decided to create its own apprenticeship opportunity for her, enabling her to complete a Level 2 qualification with them.

“Kirsty fitted right in with us; she has a great attitude and is always willing to help her colleagues. She is also extremely friendly with all of our customers and brilliant with the children, and it has been great to see her develop in her time with us,” said Leonnie Wood, manager of Parsons Walk Nursery.

Kirsty is now nearing the completion of her Level 2 qualification and progressing to a Level 3 apprenticeship at Parsons Walk.
