Preston’s College

Preston's CollegeAward-winning Brittany Mollart is a shining example of how an apprenticeship at Preston’s College can help transform a young person’s future

Business as usual for Brittany

Brittany recently completed the Level 2 apprenticeship in Business Administration while working for the Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and was described as “an invaluable asset to the organisation” by her manager.

The 19-year-old’s commitment and effort over the one-year programme helped her to beat 1000 other college learners to win the 2015 Apprentice of the Year award.

Brittany, who now works full time for the NHS Trust as its widening participation support officer, used her experience and enthusiasm to help mentor other apprentices along the way.

Her success was further recognised when she went on to win the Apprentice of the Year at the Lancashire Business View Young’uns Awards.

The awards, hosted in front of the county’s leading employers at Blackpool’s Winter Gardens, celebrates the young entrepreneurial, professional and business talent that the Lancashire region has to offer.

Talking about how an apprenticeship provides invaluable experience, that couldn’t be equalled in a classroom, Brittany said: “Being an apprentice has been so worthwhile for me and I would urge everyone to look into completing an apprenticeship to help get their foot in the door.

“My advice would be to push yourself to always go above and beyond your duties.”

Brittany’s hard-earned experience and qualifications have helped her to progress onto the college’s Level 3 award in Education and Teaching, studied alongside her full-time role.
