Multi-skilled vehicle collision repair apprenticeship

Multi-skilled vehicle collision repair apprenticeship

On a Multi-skilled Vehicle Collision Repair apprenticeship you will train as an auto repair technician in the collision repair industry, repairing and restoring a range of passenger and light commercial vehicles to their pre-accident condition.

You will learn how to identify and remove mechanical, electrical and trim components; assess the level of damage and repair/replace panels as appropriate; and prepare and paint the required areas of the vehicle to the manufacturers’ specification.

Vehicle body and paint businesses have traditionally employed individuals in narrow roles, where each employee would specialise in a particular area, for example mechanical, electrical and trim (MET), body repair (panel) and body paint. For some businesses this restricts the flexibility that they require and limits the effective use of their resources, and these businesses are now looking to train individuals into ‘multi-skilled’ roles, meaning that they will have employees who are able to work across a number of areas instead of just one.

Advanced apprentices will work at a more senior level. After further training and development you may have the opportunity to progress into a range of jobs, such as workshop controller, bodyshop manager or service manager.
