The best leaders and managers are innovative, creative, visionary and inspirational. Managers and team leaders oversee one or more employees or departments to make sure they carry out assigned duties as required. It’s up to them to make the most of company resources in order to keep the wheels turning and generate a profit. As a management apprentice, your role will vary depending on the level and sector in which you are employed. You may be involved in planning, allocating and monitoring the work of the team, giving feedback, briefing teams, supporting team members, managing conflict, resolving problems, procuring supplies, project management, agreeing budgets, and managing and improving customer service. You’ll need to be sensitive to issues such as ethnicity, culture, gender and disability.

Duration: 12 to 36 months

Achievement upon completion: Level 2 (Intermediate)—equivalent to GCSEs at grades A* to C; Level 3 (Advanced)—equivalent to A-levels at grades A to E; Level 4 (Higher)—equivalent to a foundation degree and above; Level 5 (Higher)—equivalent to a foundation degree and above

Potential salary upon completion: £22,000 per annum
