Locksmithing apprenticeship

Locksmithing is a traditional trade that now includes 21st century access control applications.

The Locksmithing apprenticeship programme is designed to provide apprentices with the essential skills and knowledge required to start work in the sector, such as key cutting, lock fitting and access control. Working alongside an experienced locksmith, you will gain a variety of trade skills and business awareness including customer service, record-keeping and risk assessment.

The apprenticeship will suit someone who enjoys hands-on working in different environments (indoors and outdoors), who likes investigating and solving problems and who has good customer service skills. After the apprenticeship there are opportunities to progress by learning different specialist skills and many locksmiths go on to run their own business.
