A lead adult care worker helps adults with care and support needs to achieve their personal goals and live as independently and safely as possible, enabling them to have control and choice in their lives. You’ll provide supervision, frontline leadership, guidance and direction for others, or working autonomously, exercising judgement and accountability. As a lead adult care worker, you may be employed as an apprentice in residential or nursing homes, domiciliary care, day centres or some clinical healthcare settings, specialising in a variety of areas such as learning disability, mental health, drug and alcohol misuse, homecare, dementia, and end-of-life care. This apprenticeship will prepare you for delegated responsibility for the standard of care provided and supervising the work of other care workers.

Duration: 18 months

Relevant school subjects: English and maths

Entry requirements: Disclosure and Barring Service check

Achievement upon completion: Level 3 (Advanced)—equivalent to A-levels at grades A to E

Potential salary upon completion: £25,000 per annum
