An infrastructure technician provides IT support to internal and external customers, helping them to be productive when using technology to do their own jobs, by using tools to solve problems and troubleshoot unusual issues.

In this role, you will set people up on IT systems and provide support when they need it, rectifying issues to maintain an organisation’s productivity. You will be dealing with customers and colleagues in today’s modern work environment, where everything needs to be synched with a computer network and working correctly, from a smartphone to a whole department’s cloud-hosted files. You will need to be able to interact professionally at all times and be able to explain how to fix technical problems in an easy to understand manner.

This Infrastructure Technician apprenticeship will give you an excellent grounding in IT, arming you with the knowledge of how to fix issues with a number of IT systems, hardware and software. You will develop an understanding of a range of cabling and connectivity as well as the various types of antennas and wireless systems used within a system. You will also get to grips with the similarities, differences and benefits of the current operating systems that are available to businesses; learn how to implement disaster recovery plans; and become familiar with a range of coding and logic.
