Gas network craftperson

Gas network craftperson

“A gas network craftperson builds, maintains and repairs parts for the country’s gas network, to provide a reliable supply of gas to domestic, commercial and industrial users”

The hazardous nature of natural gas makes the safe operation, control and maintenance of the country’s gas network vital to averting major loss or interruption to supplies. It is the role of the gas network craftperson to respond to and manage emergency situations, working for one of the organisations authorised to transport gas throughout the UK. Working as part of a larger team, you may be deployed to site in pairs or alone, depending on the activity being undertaken. You’ll need good communication skills as you may have to interact with the general public, agencies and emergency services on safety matters, and provide technical advice to other stakeholders. This apprenticeship will prepare you to specialise in electrical and instrumentation, pressure management, pipelines, or emergency response.
