“A data analyst collects, organises and studies data to provide business insight”

A data analyst manages, cleanses, abstracts and aggregates data, and conducts a range of analytical studies on that data. Your projects will vary, as you’ll be to provide technical data solutions to a range of issues. You’ll learn to document and report the results of data analysis activities, and make recommendations to improve business performance. You’ll develop a good understanding of data structures, database systems and procedures, and the range of analytical tools used to undertake a range of different types of analyses. Integral to the data analyst role are the abilities to represent data visually and effectively present conclusions. To succeed in this apprenticeship, you’ll need to be a creative and logical thinker, and have good analytical and problem-solving skills. The data analyst apprenticeship is recognised for entry onto the register of IT technicians.

Duration: 24 months

Relevant school subjects: Maths and ICT

Entry requirements: Five GCSEs and/or A-levels, a level 3 apprenticeship, or other relevant qualifications and experience, or an aptitude test with a focus on functional maths

Achievement upon completion: Level 4 (Higher)—equivalent to a foundation degree and above

Potential salary upon completion: £30,000 per annum
