Creative craft practitioner apprenticeship

Creative craft practitioner apprenticeship

A creative craft practitioner apprenticeship will help you learn a range of skills, techniques, materials, tools and equipment to design and make craft.

Our definition of craft is broad, ranging from practice that is innovative and experimental, both in terms of its vision and manufacture, to traditional craft that supports and continues our cultural heritage. Craft covers a spread of material disciplines, from textiles to ceramics and from woodwork to metalwork. The breadth is vast and covers anything from small portable items to architectural structures.

As a creative craft practitioner, you will use a range of skills, techniques, materials, tools and equipment to design and make craft. Starting an apprenticeship will help you learn the ropes of running a business, and will teach you something of how to communicate with customers in a professional way.Meanwhile, working with more experienced craftspeople will help you to develop your craft skills further.

After completing your apprenticeship, you may get the opportunity to begin a management role in the creative industries.

If you have a keen interest in working in craft and have good communication skills, which this apprenticeship will build on, then you could find that employers are looking for you to join them as an apprentice.
