The Higher Apprenticeship in Construction Management has been developed to provide career progression and professional development opportunities for higher technicians, professionals and managers in construction and the built environment. who have significant experience of working at a supervisory level in the construction sector in a range of careers.

The following pathways are available:

Level 4

  • Construction and building services management and supervision (Sustainability)
  • Construction site supervision

Level 5

  • Foundation degree in Professional practice in construction operations management
  • Construction management (Sustainability)

Level 6

  • BA (Hons) Professional practice in construction site management
  • BA (Hons) Professional practice in quantity surveying and commercial management

Whichever pathway you follow you are likely to be responsible for hiring and managing staff, ensuring projects are completed on time and on budget, liaising with clients and sub-contractors, and ensuring the site is operating in a safe and secure manner. If you work in a surveying role you will be managing all the costs relating to a project, from the initial calculations to the final figures, and seeking to minimise costs and enhance value for money. As your role becomes more senior, you will find yourself overseeing the running of several different constriction projects at any one time, and will need to develop excellent time management skills to ensure they are delivered on time, to the right quality and at the right price.
