A construction assembly and installation operative deals with structures and components that are manufactured in factories and then transported to the construction site, ready for location, connection and finishing. As an apprentice, you’ll develop the skills and ability to work with materials such as concrete, timber, or modular and portable buildings, across projects such as small local or large scale developments. You’ll be responsible for the assembly and installation of manufactured components to an agreed design specification and tolerance. This includes safe handling, moving, installing and finishing to specification and within deadlines. You’ll spend a significant amount of time working outside on a construction site, in a range of weather conditions.

Duration: 18 months

Relevant school subjects: DT

Entry requirements: Depend on employer

Achievement upon completion: Level 2 (Intermediate)—equivalent to GCSEs

Potential salary upon completion: £21,000 per annum
