The chartered legal executive is a recent innovation in the legal sector, offering an alternative route into law. Upon completion of the apprenticeship, you’ll be able to become a partner in a law firm, set up your own legal business, or aim for other roles within the sector. The chartered legal executive apprenticeship will equip you with the skills and experience to take client instructions; manage matters from inception to completion; communicate with clients; review, draft and produce legal documents; conduct and apply research; handle confidential and sensitive information; represent clients in informal and formal proceedings; and make decisions in legal matters based on legal principles or the rule of law, and within all legal and regulatory requirements. This apprenticeship can link to the paralegal and solicitor apprenticeships.

Duration: 60 months

Relevant school subjects: History

Entry requirements: Four GCSEs at grades C or above, including English language or literature, or equivalent qualifications

Achievement upon completion: Level 6 (Higher)—equivalent to a foundation degree and above

Potential salary upon completion: £38,000 per annum
