Butchery manager

“A butchery manager works in and runs a butcher’s shop, butchery department or meat processing plant”

A butchery manager takes responsibility for a shop or function in a meat business and will possess dexterous knife skills allied with all round knowledge of the craft/processing environment. As a butcher progressing to an advanced role in a manufacturing company through this apprenticeship, you’ll diversify into production management, including roles with responsibility for people and functions such as sales, quality control or training others. Equally, if you’re advancing your career in a large supermarket, independent retail or farm shop, you’ll need to be an excellent communicator and possess a technical knowledge of meat products that is supplemented with more generic skills in merchandising, sales, quality and people supervision. As an advanced butcher, you’ll develop a comprehensive understanding of health and safety practice, along with knowledge of food safety and hygiene systems at management level.
