Accrington and Rossendale College

21-year-old Roan Maher began his apprenticeship with Accrington and Rossendale College, with the aim of gaining a full-time job

Roan receives permanent contract following apprenticeship success

Roan enrolled onto an intermediate AAT qualification in September 2011 after the Accrington and Rossendale College’s apprenticeships team secured him an apprenticeship vacancy working at computing company Cleverboxes.

After receiving rave reviews from his peers both at college and at work, Roan soon progressed onto an advanced apprenticeship. This allowed him the opportunity to further develop his accounting and bookkeeping skills, where he far exceeded expectation and passed his apprenticeship with flying colours.

On completion of his apprenticeship, Roan was offered a permanent contract with Cleverboxes, working in the accounts department.

Roan explained: “Being able to earn a wage and gain experience has really helped me develop into my role. Accrington and Rossendale College has provided me with the knowledge and confidence I needed to succeed and thanks to them I secured a full-time position.”
