About the Apprenticeship Guide

The Apprenticeship Guide is a printed and online resource designed to give as much information as possible about Apprenticeships. This web site complements the print edition, which is updated annually. It's full of material to help you, and will be expanding all the time.

Apprenticeships in England are funded by the Learning and Skills Council (LSC). The website apprenticeships.org.uk is full of information for anyone thinking of taking an Apprenticeship, and we strongly recommend that you pay it a visit. The LSC can also arrange for an adviser to contact you to tell you more about Apprenticeships in your area.

The world of Apprenticeships changes all the time as new schemes are created and old schemes are updated. The information in the printed Guide is correct at the time of going to press, November 2007, but we'll update the information on this web site as and when we're informed of any changes. If you want to check on the current status of an Apprenticeship that interests you, it's always sensible to contact the Learning and Skills Council or the relevant Sector Skills Council: they're there to help you. Your local Connexions centre can also be very useful (see www.connexions-direct.com).

This Guide only deals with Apprenticeships in England, although much of the information will be useful wherever you are in Britain. Schemes are administered by different bodies in Scotland and Wales. For more information, see www.modernapprenticeships.com (Scotland) or www.elwa.org.uk/elwaweb/elwa.aspx?pageid=645 (Wales).
